U&I Label

Project Description

U&I Label — Brand Content Creation, Film & Photography

A location-led brand film and content suite for U&I Label — capturing real moments of connection, movement and coastal culture.

Shot on the Surf Coast of Victoria, this project brings together cinematography, photography and social content creation to build a flexible, human-centred content library for a modern surf and lifestyle brand.

U&I Label is a purpose-driven surf brand grounded in ocean culture, slow fashion and environmental responsibility.

The brand didn’t need highly styled, overly produced content.

It needed something else.

Content that felt:

  • real and unforced

  • connected to place

  • reflective of community and culture

  • aligned with the lived experience of its audience

The opportunity was to create a body of work that captured not just the clothing — but the feeling of being part of it.

A Human-Centred Approach to Content

Our approach was simple:

Create moments, not scenes.

Rather than constructing a traditional fashion shoot, we worked with a small group of women — allowing the energy of the environment, the skate bowl, and the coastline to shape the content naturally.

The result is a series of interactions that feel:

  • spontaneous

  • relaxed

  • connected

  • genuinely human

This approach aligns with how audiences engage with brands today — favouring authenticity over perfection.

A group of people, including a woman with blonde hair, wearing black sunglasses, a light-colored outfit, and a gold chain, is gathered outdoors during sunset, with some individuals partially visible in the foreground.
A group of five women gathered outdoors near the coast at sunset, engaging in conversation and smiling.

Location as Story

The project was shot on the Surf Coast, drawing on the unique character of Torquay and the broader Geelong region.

The skate bowl became a central setting — offering:

  • movement and rhythm

  • texture and contrast

  • a sense of youth, freedom and culture

By grounding the content in a real location, the work carries a sense of place that can’t be replicated in studio environments.

This reinforces both the brand’s identity and its connection to coastal living.

Film, Photography & Social Content

The shoot was designed as a multi-output content system from the outset.

Deliverables included:

  • a 40-second hero brand film

  • short-form video edits for social media

  • still image captures from motion

  • photography for campaign and digital use

This approach ensures the content can be used across:

  • Instagram and short-form platforms

  • website and e-commerce

  • campaigns and ongoing brand storytelling

Rather than a single asset, the brand walks away with a library of usable content.

Capturing Movement & Energy

Cinematography focused on capturing:

  • natural movement

  • shifting light

  • interaction between people and environment

The pacing and framing were intentionally loose — allowing the content to feel:

  • lived-in rather than directed

  • expressive rather than staged

Sound design and editing further enhanced this — creating a rhythm that mirrors the energy of the shoot.

The Outcome

The result is a content suite that feels:

  • authentic

  • culturally relevant

  • grounded in place

  • aligned with the values of the brand

For U&I Label, this work provides:

  • a flexible content library for ongoing use

  • a stronger connection with their audience

  • a visual identity rooted in real experience
