We Are Purpose × Kodiak (with Zen): Built to go further

Some brands arrive with a manifesto. Kodiak arrived with a promise: gear should last. No fuss, no failures—just solid performance from the city commute to the edge of the map. In partnership with Zen (Australia‑based APAC brand builders) we helped bring that promise to life with a new identity ready for both rugged use and refined retail.

The collaboration

Zen engaged We Are Purpose in 2022 to build the Kodiak brand from the ground up—an Australian‑owned and managed range of rugged coolers and insulated drinkware backed by a 5‑year warranty and a no‑quit attitude. Our brief was simple and specific: make durability desirable, and make the system work across APAC channels from specialty outdoor to lifestyle retail.

Our role

  • Brand strategy & positioning — a clear point of view for outdoor and everyday use: Cold stays cold. Hot stays hot. Simple.

  • Identity & packaging system — a modern, field‑ready visual language that reads premium on shelf and honest in hand; designed for range expansion and wholesale readiness.

  • Content direction — lifestyle and product language tuned to Australian conditions and APAC retail, from product cards to ecommerce.

How it looks, how it works

Kodiak’s identity is built on restraint and function. Confident wordmarks, robust typography, high‑legibility layouts and a colour system that scales from bottles to coolers. Materials and finishes were specified with real use in mind—scuff‑tolerant, glove‑friendly, wet‑condition legibility. The result: kit that feels as dependable on a dawn trail as it does on a desk.

Where it’s headed

Kodiak has now launched with Zen across Asia–Pacific channels, with a growing range of insulated drinkware and hard‑use coolers designed and quality‑controlled in Australia. We’ll keep supporting the brand as it expands its product library and retail footprint.
