We Are Purpose appointed to lead the Physical Disability Council of NSW rebrand and digital transformation

For more than 35 years, the Physical Disability Council of NSW (PDCN) has helped turn lived experience into change—supporting people with physical disability to speak up, be heard and shape a more accessible NSW. We’re proud to be partnering with PDCN to co‑design a refreshed brand and a new digital presence that amplifies those voices and makes it easier for people to find information, connect and act.

What this work is really about

Our collaboration began with a deep brand immersion—listening to members, stakeholders and the team; mapping how people currently discover PDCN; and identifying the moments where clarity or access breaks down. The brief that emerged is simple: a brand that reflects PDCN’s leadership, and a website that removes friction. That means plain language, strong information hierarchy, and a visual system that is recognisable, respectful and inclusive.

How we’ll approach it

Strategy leads design. We’re defining a clear brand story and positioning for PDCN’s next era of advocacy and impact, then expressing it through an identity system built for accessibility first—colour, type and layout choices that support legibility and ease of use across print and digital.

On the web, we’ll rebuild the experience from the ground up so members, carers, policymakers and media can find what they need quickly. Content will be structured around real tasks (from membership and resources to policy submissions and news), with a publishing toolkit that helps the PDCN team keep things consistent over time.

Accessibility commitments (at a glance)

This project is being co‑designed with people with disability and developed to meet WCAG 2.2 AA guidance. In practice, that includes:

  • Plain‑language content and clear, logical headings

  • Keyboard navigation and predictable focus order

  • Sufficient colour contrast and scalable typography

  • Descriptive link labels, image alt text and accessible forms

  • Captions and transcripts for multimedia content

Why it matters

An accessible, coherent brand makes it easier for the community to discover support, for decision‑makers to engage with evidence, and for members to rally around shared priorities. It also reflects what PDCN stands for: inclusion, dignity and respect—not just in words, but in how the organisation shows up every day.

What’s next

As milestones are reached, we’ll share progress on the new identity and the website rollout. We’re grateful to be working alongside PDCN and its community on a project that aligns so closely with our values as a purpose‑led studio.
